Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy is a role-playing game that takes place three years after the events in Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout. It’s yet another installment in the long list of titles under the anime-inspired Atelier franchise.

Similar to the previous games in the franchise, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy takes players on an adventure where they will have to team up with friends as they search for a hidden treasure. In addition to open-world exploration, players can also engage in thrilling real-time combat.

Scour the island for clues

After the events of the first Atelier Ryza installment, our protagonist has spent the past few years remaining on Kurken Island as she takes in the various scenic views and the thrilling adventures that lie within the island’s various corners. In Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy, you can look forward to new field actions that you weren’t able to do in the preceding title.

Players can now dive underwater, use the flora around them to climb walls, and even make use of a new grapple feature to reach far destinations. You will have to make use of these various actions and mechanisms to explore the large map, all while keeping an eye on the enemies that are lying around. Another major update in this sequel is the improved real-time battle system.

Players have the ability to equip their characters with varied skills and weapons to help them defeat different types of enemies. Unfortunately, however, there is a persistent bug that affects the camera’s view. The game’s camera constantly zooms in and out unexpectedly and will often reset itself, even when you’ve already adjusted the camera’s angle to suit your visual preference.

Needs some polishing

Overall, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy is a thrilling follow-up to Atelier Ryza’s story, with even more adventures to look forward to, as well as major improvements in the exploration actions and battle system. However, it does need to address issues regarding the buggy camera work in order for players to fully enjoy the stunning visuals that await them in this game.
